Why it's taking me so long to graduate.

I take time consuming classes that teach me to how to build this.

The top is aluminum and the bottom is all acrylic.  This is a side view.  We couldn't get any good photos from the front because the fish wouldn't cooperate.

Ideas Needed

I'm taking a machining/design class at Stanford this quarter and I need some ideas.  We have to make some item that has two basic requirements.
1) At least two pieces that are attached together in some fashion
2) Mostly metal or plastic

Some ideas in the past have been: a pizza cutter, flute, snow board bindings, lamps, chess set, and boxes.

Some of my ideas are:  (these may not meet the actual requirements, but I'm just brainstorming)
1) fish tank
2) coin sorter
3) pull-up bar
4) poker table
5) satellite tv dish

Alcatraz

I thought I was really slow, but looking at some of the other times, I didn't do so bad.  Here's my benchmark.  Earlier this year, a 7 year old kid made the news by swimming Alcatraz in 47 minutes.  He was apparently in this race too.

Take that !!!!.

On a related side note, the night before the swim I saw a news piece saying there was a great white sighted somewhere along the bay area's west coast.  Today, I see this.  I guess I don't look that much like a seal, eh echiu?  See you guys next year for my next post.

damnit !!! . what are the chances....

so i've been somewhat interested in 3 separate stanford girls in my stanford career.  (at different times)

the basic summary of each "pursuit"
1) immediately ran away when she found out i was a grad student
2) had a boyfriend
3) might have a shot, who knows.

ran into girl #2 at the cafeteria once and started talking to her... suddenly, girl #1 walks up.  turns out they're good friends !!!

recently met girl #3, hung out a couple times.  just found out she could be good friends with girl #2.  damnit.  what are the chances !!!  the entire stanford population.. the 3 girls i've hit on in the past 5 years are good friends.  God's playing a joke on me isn't he...

oh yeah, a 4th friend of theirs apparently lives across from me now.  luckily i haven't hit on her yet.

Wow, two posts within 30 days of each other, aren't you guys lucky.

I finally entered the digital age and bought myself a digital camera.  So here are some of the
shots I've taken lately.  Some of you know I've been "surfing" lately.  Well, the reason
"surfing" has quotes around this is....

Echiu's natural surfing state:

My natural surfing state:

I'm getting better though, I promise.  Just ask echiu who was the last man standing.

I also went sailing with my Stanford lab this week.

Here's a bad picture of the Golden Gate Bridge:

On closer inspection, not so bad eh..
